PRESS RELEASE 

On June 5, 2018, a Primary Election will be held for Federal, State and Local candidates. Nominees will be elected to be on the ballot at the November General Election. 

Absentee Voting and Voter Registration information is explained below: 

Hours and Deadlines in the Fremont County Auditorís Office:

        
Monday through Friday - Open daily 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
        
Friday, May 25, Auditorís Office open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Deadline to pre-register to vote and to request an absentee ballot by mail.
        
Saturday, June 2, Auditorís Office open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Absentee voting in-person available in the Auditorís office.
        
Monday, June 4, Auditorís office open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ė Absentee voting in-person available in the Auditorís office.  Last day voters can correct Absentee affidavits.
        
Tuesday, June 5, ELECTION DAY.  Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Ė Absentee ballots can be received in the Auditorís office until the polls close, 9:00 p.m. 
       Vote in-person at the polls only.

        
Thursday, June 15, Auditorís office open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ė Recount Request Deadline
        
Tuesday, June 19, Auditorís office open 8:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. Ė Write-In nominees filing deadline 

Absentee Voting:

Absentee voting in-person will be available daily at the Fremont County Auditorís office beginning Monday, May 7.  All registered voters are eligible to absentee vote.  See the
schedule above for alternate Auditor office hours on days that have specific deadlines. 

Applications for Absentee Ballots to vote in-person, or by mail, can be picked-up in the Auditorís Office or be downloaded from the Secretary of State
web-site: https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/auditors/forms/domesticabs.html

An individual voter may create their own application on paper by at least 3 inches by 5 inches and it must include all information on the prescribed application.  Applications
requesting a ballot by mail must be received no later than Friday, May 25, at 5:00 p.m.  This enables the Auditorís office to mail the ballots in a timely manner.  Requests
should be addressed to the Fremont County Auditor, P.O. Box 610, Sidney, IA 51652. 

Voter Registration

Anyone not registered to vote is reminded that Friday, May 25, is the voter pre-registration deadline to enable your name to be on the Election Registers.  After May 25,
new voters will follow the Election Day Registration requirements (EDR).    Election Day Registration (EDR) is administered from May 29 to June 4, in the Auditorís office.
  A new voter may come to the Auditorís office in the Courthouse with proof of ID and residency, register to vote, and vote an absentee ballot. You also may register to
 vote at the polls on Election Day, June 5, with proof of ID and residency and vote a regular ballot.

 NOTICE OF CHANGE IN POLLING PLACE FOR PRIMARY ELECTION
JUNE 5, 2018, FOR SIDNEY PRECINCT

Notice is hereby given to qualified electors of the Fremont County, Iowa, that the Sidney Precinct will vote at United Faith Church at 1975 US-275, Sidney, IA.  This is a
change from the Fremont County Courthouse.

ID REQUIREMENTS

Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before they may receive and cast a ballot.  Pre-registered voters who are unable to
show an approved ID may sign an oath of identification for an election held in 2018.  Voters who are not pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be
 required to provide proof of residence.  Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID. 
 Starting January 1, 2019, all voters will be required to present an approved form of identification.  For additional information about voter identification visit
